Happy Wednesday! Oh lord, I’ve SO MUCH TO SAY!!!!
So… FIRST and foremost, NEW RELEASE! “Dim Sum Asylum” by the ever amazing Rhys Ford for Dreamspinner Press.
Welcome to Dim Sum Asylum: a San Francisco where it’s a ho-hum kind of case when a cop has to chase down an enchanted two-foot-tall shrine god statue with an impressive Fu Manchu mustache that’s running around Chinatown trolling sex magic and chaos in its wake.
Senior Inspector Roku MacCormick of the Chinatown Arcane Crimes Division faces a pile of challenges far beyond his human-faerie heritage – snarling dragons guarding C-Town’s multiple gates and exploding noodle factories. After a case goes sideways, Roku is saddled with Trent Leonard, a new partner he can’t trust, to add to the crime syndicate family he doesn’t want and a spell-casting serial killer he desperately needs to find.
While Roku would rather stay home with Bob the Cat and whiskey himself to sleep, he puts on his badge and gun every day, determined to serve and protect the city he loves. When Chinatown’s dark mystical underworld makes his life hell and the case turns deadly, Trent guards Roku’s back and, if Trent can be believed, his heart…even if from what Roku can see, Trent is as dangerous as the monsters and criminals they’re sworn to bring down.
As I know to expect with my Nuna, this was an awesome book. SUCH a blast to perform.
I am just back from the Audiofile Magazine annual Lobster Clambake on the shore of Maine, and the next 2 Wednesdays you’ll be getting the travelogue (because I’m on vacation, so… yay for scheduled posts!) but for today I wanted to say HEY, and see how you all are doing.
How’re things? For those of you in the Northern hem, how are your summers?
I wanted to say THANK YOU again to all the amazing people I met in Berlin… if you missed it, I’ve got some photos up of the whole trip here:
I’m going to try to get all the photos into the posts in future… still learning the best way to do this whole hobby photojournalist thing!
I just finished listening to colleague and mentor Hillary Huber read one of Glynn Stewart’s newest books “Terran Privateer – The Duchy of Terra, book 1” for Podium Publishing; and if you’re in the mood for a bit of an underdog space opera, give it a go. Really solid book, I enjoyed the hell out of it. Also, mad props to Hillary for doing a book with that many glottal clicks. Dude.
I’ve just wrapped up production on a few books for some amazing people, including “Well Tailored” for Silvia Violet on the Boudreaux line, “One Giant Leap” for Kay Simone on the Tremblay, and the principal recording for Nick Webb’s “Jupiter’s Sword” for Audible Studios. Look for the first two any time in the next 2 weeks, and Jupiter’s Sword in … late August likely.
I am off to a family vacay for 2 weeks in Pennsylvania. Getting dressed up in funny clothes with 10k of my closest friends and playing at medieval living. “The Pennsic Wars” … I’ll try to get some sneaky photojournalism done without harshing everyone’s Medieval Mellow… but I plan also to … well. Drink and sing and frolic, so. Ya know. No promises.
All of you! Keep an eye here for the Maine Travelogue next week, have an amazing late July.
Keep reading, keep writing, keep listening and keep sharing your stories.
Love, cheers, and Bisous!!!
